Heading into 2026

As we enter the new year, Tinymovr is focusing on the practical hardware requirements of modern robotics, specifically addressing the needs of high-performance motion control and accessible mechanical platforms.

Hardware Availability

The following motor control hardware is available for preorder, with shipping scheduled for Q1 2026:

  • Tinymovr R5.3 & M5.2: Proven FOC-based motor controllers designed for high-bandwidth robotic applications.

  • CANine Adapter: Reliable USB-to-CAN interface for seamless controller integration.

These units are being produced to the same technical specifications as previous iterations, ensuring compatibility with existing workflows and systems.

Looking Ahead: Hardware for Next Generation Robotics

The rapid growth of embodied AI and learning-based robotics has shifted the requirements for research hardware. Interestingly, in this new paradigm, absolute precision often takes a second stage. Modern end-to-end neural architectures—specifically Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models—leverage continuous visual feedback to close the control loop. Because these models "see" the result of their actions in real-time, they can compensate for mechanical tolerances that would have been deal-breakers in traditional scripted robotics. This shift allows us to optimize for different targets:

  • Backdrivability: Prioritizing safe human interaction and ease of physical demonstration.

  • Structural Compliance: Designing hardware that is resilient and "forgiving" during the learning process.

  • Design Transparency: Utilizing open-source mechanical architectures to allow for rapid iteration at scale.

By integrating our motor control expertise with these emerging requirements, we are developing platforms optimized for researchers working on interaction and learning-at-scale, rather than just traditional industrial repeatability.

Our Focus

Our commitment remains centered on technical rigor and providing tools that solve specific integration challenges. We look forward to sharing further technical updates as our 2026 roadmap progresses.

Let’s build what’s next.
